JUSTO THE MC & BRELSTAFF

Brooklyn MC Justo the MC first emerged in 2010 while working with his cousin and producer DJ Vic Black of Gangstarr Foundation.  The video for their joint “It’s Our Year” released in 2011 featured DJ Premier, and after several years of mixtape releases, the pair would hook up again in 2017 on Justo’s album “Black Ops” produced entirely by DITC’s Showbiz, executively produced and curated by Vic assisted by DJ Premier.  The same year he would release the album “Epiphany : The Lost Project”, a collaboration with Canadian production team The Lost Info.

In 2019 he teamed up with Brooklyn producer Maticulous for the new album “Mind of a Man” which was released through Italian label Tuff Kong Records and saw the pair appear on DJ Premier’s “Live From HeadQuarterz Shade 45 show as part of their promotional tour.  The rapper and producer would work together again on the albums “County of Kings” (2020) and “Three” (2022) through Maticulous’ own Myers Street Music.

Further collaborations resulted in the 2020 release of “Word is Bond” with Italian producer Bboy Enea, “This is Me” with Nova Scotian beatmaker and in 2022 Justo teamed up with UK producer Remulak for the album “Knockturnal” released through English imprint Village Live.

The Edinburgh based beatmaker first came to light in 2014 while performing under his born name Daryl Donald with his own EP “Kept” and the collaborative album “The Clockwork” with south London emcee Cutta Chase.  The release of his instrumental album “Solitude” in 2017 followed in 2019 by “Behold the Spirit” and “Full Circle” built up his reputation as one of the most respected new emerging underground lo fi hip hop producers from these shores, attracting a total of 450,000 listeners and a million streams on Spotify.

Subsequently having decided to adopt a new pseudonym, he released the self titled “Brelstaff” in 2020 before teaming up with Brooklyn MC Justo the MC for the first time in 2021 with the release of the joint Swagu.  While working on a number of new projects, he returned to the public arena most recently in February 2023 with the release of the new joint “Cursive” featuring the legendary Fashawn.

Justo and Brel have signed on with New Dawn Records for their new album “Urban Testimony” which will release in the autumn of 2023, with the instrumental version dropping first on April 28th 2023.
