Released today on our Youtube channel, the new video “Qataban”.

Produced by Shahin principally as a remix for a forthcoming single release by New Jersey rapper Tru Trilla, he wished for the extended instrumental version and accompanying visuals to be used as a message of support for the women and girls of Afghanistan, Iran, Africa and indeed all around the world suffering at the hands of oppression, domestic & mental abuse, physical brutality and injustice.

Effectively a sequel to his earlier release “Anuket” following a similar theme of struggle and redemption, it is another timely reminder that while turbulent global affairs have attentions turned elsewhere, their plight has not been forgotten. A testimonial to the bravery and dignity with which the fight continues to be fought. Our warrior queens will prevail.

New Dawn Records are proud to present the new single “Sun Rays” by New Jersey rapper Tru Trilla featuring Reks and Lakim Shabazz, produced by LG Roc.

It’s the first to be taken from the phenomenal new album “XVI : Return of the Gods” which releases on May 31st, and is the follow up to the Brick City veteran’s classic ‘God of Barz’ which we also released back in 2020.

Several years in the making, Tru has gathered together a heavyweight line up of guest featured artists and producers from all around the USA, Canada, Japan, Spain and the UK for a masterpiece of fierce bars, killer beats and turntablism.

This first single sets the agenda, and unsurprisingly has already enjoyed healthy radio support from stations around the world which we appreciate greatly.

Producer LG Roc’s soundtrack is the perfect backdrop for Tru, Reks and Lakim Shabazz to go in all the way, exchanging formidable rhymes and wordplay while channelling the knowledge of the ancients. Seasoned campaigners at the height of their powers, a masterful display.

Something a little bit different from us to see out 2022.

After what’s been yet another turbulent year in the world with war, political chaos, extreme weather events and a cost of living crisis set to hit people hard, we can all use a few moments that help soothe the soul. Albeit, if you’re in the UK, you’re probably chilled to the bone right now but you get the idea……!

During the summer we released producer Shahin’s remix of “Lame Duck” featuring New Jersey rappers Tru Trilla, Fly Kwa and Prince Ak.  He has now laced us with this new bonus cut, a soundscape drawing on his own cultural and historical influences which blends electronic chillout and lo fi hip hop with a fusion of Nubian strings, woodwind, hypnotic  keys and ethereal voices.

Set sail with Anuket on a journey of enlightenment…….and breathe.

“Lame Duck” originally appeared on London producer Ramson Badbonez’ album ‘Lead by Example’ which dropped in August 2021, and our affiliate Shahin’s new interpretation mixing classic funky drum and & bass loops underpins rugged and raw rhymes from New Jersey trio Tru Trilla, Fly Kwa and Prince Ak. Trading fierce bars and punchlines, an onslaught of potent hooks and jabs from the Brick City verbal marksmen are delivered to their targets in a series of lyrical body blows that leave contenders on the canvas.

Tru Trilla is currently recording a new album, the follow up to “God of Barz” which we released in 2020. We will be bringing you news of that in the months ahead but can tell you there is already an outstanding line up of producers and featured artists appearing on the new record. It will most definitely be worth the wait !
