“Lame Duck” originally appeared on London producer Ramson Badbonez’ album ‘Lead by Example’ which dropped in August 2021, and our affiliate Shahin’s new interpretation mixing classic funky drum and & bass loops underpins rugged and raw rhymes from New Jersey trio Tru Trilla, Fly Kwa and Prince Ak. Trading fierce bars and punchlines, an onslaught of potent hooks and jabs from the Brick City verbal marksmen are delivered to their targets in a series of lyrical body blows that leave contenders on the canvas.

We will be bringing you news of that in the months ahead but can tell you there is already an outstanding line up of producers and featured artists appearing on the new record. It will have appeared a little quiet over here at NDR towers recently, mainly because we’ve been busy behind the scenes assisting with the development of brand new projects, news of which will likely be published late 2022 / early 2023.

Meantime, we’ve also been re-connecting and catching up “post Covid” with some of our long time affiliated producer friends, the result being that we now have rare special releases to present, beginning today.

“Bismillah” originally appeared on the album “Lead by Example” we released last year, the phenomenal debut producer album by London’s Ramson Badbonez. This new remix by Qadir featuring Brooklyn’s Justo the MC, San Diego’s Johaz of Dag Savage and Deeprooted, and prolific Nebraskan Sleep Sinatra blends cool groove funk with soulful beats, fused together with a mix of heavy bass, guitar licks, brass and Arabian strings. We are pleased to announce the release of the new single “Lame Duck” today, the fourth taken from the album “Lead By Example” by London’s Ramson Badbonez, his debut as a producer which drops August 27th 2021.

Rarely has such a line up of hip hop heavyweights from both sides of the Atlantic featured together on the one LP, resulting in a showcase of the highest quality rhymes, beats and turntablism.

It’s doubly satisfying for us that on this latest joint we were able to bring artists we work with together, namely New Jersey’s Tru Trilla whose EP “The Seymour Chronicles” and album “God of Barz” we released last year. Together with fellow featured artists Fly Kwa and Prince Ak, trademark raw and uncompromising punchlines deliver knockout blows to all comers, the energy intensified by the potent bass and kicks combinations for a concoction of bars and beats that go the full distance.

In additional news, we are hopeful of announcing a joint showcase event in London sometime in the autumn for the album “Panacea” by Phoenix da Icefire & Husky Brown we released last year and which was previously postponed due to the pandemic, and Ramson’s album “Lead by Example”.

Those in England may be aware that on the day the announcement was made confirming all restrictions had been lifted for entry to bars and clubs and the leisure industry more widely, an additional restriction was simultaneously added at the last minute meaning that from late September, evidence of a double Covid vaccination would become necessary to gain entry to clubs and venues.

While logic would determine that this has little to do with science and more to do with coercing a specific age group into receiving both vaccinations over a set period, it has of course added further uncertainty and considerations for venues and clubs up and down the country in terms of logistics, resources and feasibility.

However the situation is still developing, and we will provide further details whenever in a position to confirm.

We are pleased to announce the release of this new AA side single today, the third taken from the new album “Lead by Example” by London’s Ramson Badbonez, his debut as a producer, out on August 27th 2021.

The album features hip hop heavyweights from both sides of the Atlantic, and the new single is the latest representation of the different levels involved.

“Black Hole Cypher” is an outstanding posse cut featuring a “Who’s Who” of the UK scene. Relentless business from King Kashmere, Truemendous, MysDiggi, Micall Parknsun, Joker Starr, Gee Bag, Confucius, Jehst, Phoenix da Icefire and Ramson himself all piling in with fierce bars over a high octane beat.

Switching gears, “Rap to the Future” resonates to a classic west coast beat. Featured artists Dizzy Dustin from Long Beach (Ugly Duckling / Blown Celeb), an old friend of ours from the Underground Cartel project Mr Hooper (aka Crazyballhead) of Sacramento and Canada’s Moka Only evoke the sights and sounds of hip hop back in the day, with exquisite cuts provided by last year’s IDA scratch champion Kompoze.

New Dawn Records are delighted to announce the release of the fantastic new album “Dopeliss” by Brick City rapper & producer Az Izz, formerly of the legendary New Jersey group The Outsidaz.

Together with Pace Won, Young Zee, Rah Digga and D.U., the Brick City crew were noted for their work with The Fugees, Wu Tang and a new emerging force from Detroit, D12. More recently pursuing a career in tv, film and sports music production, Az has returned to the hip hop fold with his first major solo album in several years.

Largely self produced with additional contributions by Qua Z Mo, DJ 3rdRell and DJ Profluent, the guest featured artists include several of his fellow former group members and further luminaries from the local independent scene including Drift, Rube the Difference and Jaja Kenyatta.

From boom bap to hard driving electronic beats, the production maps the evolution of the east coast sound underpinned lyrically by the traditional art of storytelling, street life, aspirations and struggles. Back in the game with another flag planted for the Garden State, it’s a diverse and engaging release for hip hop heads across the board.

A busy March concludes for us with the release of the new single “Word of God” by New Jersey rapper Tru Trilla, produced by Chicago’s DNA Beatz.

This is the first to be taken from the album “God of Barz” out on May 29th which of course follows hot on the heels of Tru’s “The Seymour Chronicles EP” which we released only a couple of weeks ago on March 17th.

The album also includes production by Clinton Place aka Jamal Nueve, a New Jersey native now resident in Los Angeles, Barcelona’s Sumerio Square and the UK’s Chat One. Fellow 050 Boyz group member Prince Ak is included in the Brick City contingent of featured artists alongside Middy Murdock, Fly Kwa and Confucious.
