New Dawn Records are proud to announce another addition to the label roster by way of NY State rapper Anthony Kannon and producer Frost Gamble with the release of their new album “Cautionary Tales” on October 20th 2023.

Recipient of the title “Best Rapper” at the Ithaca Music Awards in 2019, the young lyricist draws on his own real life battles and traumatic episodes, conveying a wide range of subject matter represented throughout the aptly titled release.  It is a remarkable journey encapsulated in a series of biographical depictions, all with an underlying theme of survival, escape, progression and transformation.

Authentically powerful, this is Storyville of a life less ordinary with a narrative packed full of dope rhymes and skilful wordplay set to the highest caliber soundtrack provided by Frost, originally from Binghamton NY and now resident in Canada.

Particularly well known for his extensive catalogue with long time sparring partner Tone Chop, the prolific beatmaker has released further projects with Tragedy Khadafi, KXNG Crooked, Horseshoe Gang and Craig G while producing his “Sixteens” series of instrumentals.  Some of his earliest collaborative projects included productions for Young Bleed, Sadat X, J-Ro, Doc Ice and Tahmell, son of the legendary Rakim, while in 2013 he contributed to Fresh I.E.’s “Red Letterz 13” which duly won  “Album of the Year” at the Canadian Gospel Music Awards.

A series of singles will precede the album release beginning on June 6th with “Pitfalls”.  All will be available to download and stream from major digital platforms including Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, Tidal and Amazon.  Videos for all tracks will appear on our official Youtube channel @newdawnrecords where you can now watch the video trailer.

New single released today, the second taken from Newark rapper Tru Trilla’s “The Seymour Chronicles EP” out on March 17th.

On “20 to Life” he is joined by fellow 050 Boyz member Prince Ak as they load up the verbal barrels and take aim at wack rappers with more dresses in their locker than rhymes ! Fierce bars over the classic eastcoast sound produced by another New Jersey native Joey Loax.

The EP is the warm up to Tru’s incredible new album “God of Barz” we release in May, more news about that shortly.

Phoenix will be known to many as a member of Triple Darkness, long regarded as one of the finest hip hop groups to emerge from the UK whose superior rhyme skills have seen their reputation grow at home and abroad.

This exceptional debut partnership brings a fresh perspective to the genre with Husky’s kaleidoscopic productions fusing hip hop, r&b, soul, dub, bass, reggae, electronica and jazz

As expected, Phoenix uses all of his creative verbal artillery to address a number of highly relevant issues for these volatile times covering the environment, mental health, racism, disengagement, knife crime and social decay, all with the aspiration of healing and reconciliation.

We are delighted to be working with such highly talented artists and their ground breaking album, another reflection of this label’s identity and future intentions.

New Dawn Records are proud to announce the release of two upcoming projects by Brick City’s lyrical marksman Tru Trilla in 2020.

“The Seymour Chronicles EP” out on March 17th is the precursor for his incredible new album “God of Barz” which drops May 29th.

Our in house promotional division UrbanElite PR worked with Tru previously in 2015 when as part of 050 Boyz they released the classic album “Everything 050” resulting in worldwide media coverage and live appearances on Sirius XM as guests of DJ Eclipse and DJ Premier.

The crew’s Prince Ak and RIQ together with regular affiliate Fly Kwa make guest appearances on the new EP which as you’d expect is packed with fierce rhymes, hooklines and hard bars with all delivering high on the verbal ballistics scale. Entirely produced by another New Jersey native Joey Loax, it represents the classic sound of the east coast and serves a tasty appetizer for the main course in May.

As a label, we relish the prospect of working with an artist of Tru’s caliber and style which represents perfectly our direction of travel as we enter an exciting new phase since re-launching last year.
