In May 2020 we brought you “Panacea” by London rapper Phoenix da Icefire and producer Husky Brown, nominated for “Best Independent Album” at last year’s AIM Awards.  Postponed due to the pandemic, the rescheduled launch event takes place at Brixton Jamm on Friday November 12th as a joint headline with fellow London rapper and producer Ramson Badbonez who will be showcasing tracks from his album “Lead by Example” which we released recently in August.

Tickets and details for the show are available directly at www.gigs.hiphop

This new AA side single by the duo has been made available today to mark the event.  The Schifrin-esque soundtrack of “Shake Things Up” fuels a barrage of high octane bars unleashed from a fully loaded verbal armoury, while a sublime blend of choice beats and turntablism laces the specially commissioned remix of “Dark Rainbow Light” courtesy of prolific US producer and DJ Tone Spliff whose multiple credits include work with Recognize Ali, King Magnetic, Ruste Juxx, Melly-Mel, Vic Monroe and many more.

You can download and stream the release at all major digital platforms including APPLE, TIDAL, AMAZON, Bandcamp & Spotify

There is also a “concept” video playing on our Youtube channel

This is our last official release of 2021 and we thank everyone, whether in media or the general public for your ongoing support, it’s very much appreciated. We are working currently on new projects targeted for release in 2022 which we look forward to announcing in the near future.

Meantime, if you are in the area, try to get down to the show at Brixton Jamm next week, it’s sure to be a night of top quality hip hop. Enjoy !

NDR are very proud to present the stunning new video “The Humans are Coming” by London rapper and producer duo Phoenix da Icefire and Husky Brown filmed by Global Faction and UKHH.com

Released today, the amazing visuals edited by Phoenix’s own company Sovereign Comics, represents the track’s environmental theme, Husky’s driving electronic production providing the soundtrack for a metaphorical letter of contrition to the mythical Gaia for the damage done by humankind to her realm.

This is the first official video taken from the album “Panacea” we released on May 5th, and which has been nominated for “Best Independent Album” at this year’s AIM Awards taking place on Wednesday August 12th. Due to the COVID 19 restrictions, the awards ceremony will be entirely online, streaming live from 7pm GMT / 2pm EST on SBTV’s YOUTUBE Channel

The nomination is in recognition of the groundbreaking nature of the album, Husky’s rare fusion of hip hop, electro, bass, dub, soul and r&b is the soundtrack for Phoenix’s highly creative narrative addressing many of today’s most pressing issues including climate change, racism, well being, mental health, knife crime and social aspiration, all delivered with a refreshing and optimistic counterpoint of hope, healing and reconciliation.

New Dawn Records are delighted to announce the release of the fantastic new album “Dopeliss” by Brick City rapper & producer Az Izz, formerly of the legendary New Jersey group The Outsidaz.

Together with Pace Won, Young Zee, Rah Digga and D.U., the Brick City crew were noted for their work with The Fugees, Wu Tang and a new emerging force from Detroit, D12. More recently pursuing a career in tv, film and sports music production, Az has returned to the hip hop fold with his first major solo album in several years.

Largely self produced with additional contributions by Qua Z Mo, DJ 3rdRell and DJ Profluent, the guest featured artists include several of his fellow former group members and further luminaries from the local independent scene including Drift, Rube the Difference and Jaja Kenyatta.

From boom bap to hard driving electronic beats, the production maps the evolution of the east coast sound underpinned lyrically by the traditional art of storytelling, street life, aspirations and struggles. Back in the game with another flag planted for the Garden State, it’s a diverse and engaging release for hip hop heads across the board.

Available to stream and download from all major digital platforms and stores including APPLE, TIDAL, AMAZON, and also here on Spotify.

New Dawn Records are very proud to present the explosive new album by Brick City rapper Tru Trilla, available on all major streaming platforms and digital stores today.

Together with his “Seymour Chronicles EP” we released in March, both products were over a year in the making, but the wait has been definitely worth it.

Just as with the Phoenix da Icefire and Husky Brown album “Panacea” we released earlier this month, it is music of this caliber that played a major role in our decision to re-launch the label last year, and in Tru’s case not only does he plant a flag for the Garden State but also for the classic sound of eastcoast hip hop.

Unsurprisingly, his singles “Word of God”, “God’s Sympathy” and “God’s Mercy” enjoyed a fantastic reception by onlines and radio DJ’s worldwide, appreciative of the quality of lyricism and production on offer, a throwback to the days when hip hop really did bring the noise and had something to say.

On the album, Newark natives Middy Murdock, Fly Kwa, Confucious and fellow 050 Boyz group member Prince Ak intensify the energy with their own gritty rhymes. The production brings extra layers and dynamics courtesy of Chicago’s DNA Beatz, Barcelona’s Sumerio Square, the UK’s Chat One and award winning Clinton Place (aka Jamal Nueve), originally of New Jersey and now resident in Los Angeles.

This one really is for the heads, the hip hop connoisseurs. It’s not designed to be faux stylistic background music, it’s there to give your neck muscles one helluva workout and consume your soul. This is the real deal, set the dial to full volume and enjoy the ride.

Now on Apple / iTunes, Amazon, Deezer, Napster and Tidal. Also on Spotify and Soundcloud

You can connect with Tru Trilla on Twitter @Egofree2_050 and Instagram @Trilla050 All media, press and DJ enquiries about the release can be sent to our in house promotional division UrbanElite PR, their contact details are available HERE

We thank everyone again for their support of everything we’ve done over the past year, we hope you are all safe and well in these troubled times and that you enjoy the album.

Peace

Delighted to announce the release of the new single today by London duo Phoenix da Icefire & Husky Brown, the double A side “Dark Rainbow Light” b/w “Sins of Gaia”

Taken from the album “Panacea” out May 5th where the themes covered by The Triple Darkness member address the environment, mental health, knife crime, racism, well being and aspiration. The narrative is delivered with the highest caliber of lyricism and figurative wordplay over a soundtrack provided by Husky which skillfully blends a fresh fusion of hip hop, soul, r&b, electronica, dub and bass.

Following on from their first single “Cosmic Soul” b/w “Seasons of You” released earlier this month, Husky laces “Dark Rainbow Light” with some soulful traditional hip hop flavours as Phoenix reflects on the challenges of inner city life while searching a better path. Meanwhile, the lo fi beats of Sins of Gaia paints the backdrop for an attack on institutional racism with the remix provided by Kashmere (YNR Productions, Tru Thoughts, High Focus).

Distributed by Ingrooves / Universal, and available to stream and download from all major digital platforms and stores including Apple, Amazon, Deezer, Napster & Tidal. Also on Spotify and Soundcloud

Phoenix and Husky planned their album launch party at Brixton Jamm on May 8th. Obviously given the current situation worldwide with the COVID-19 outbreak and resulting interim restrictions implemented, the event may well have to be postponed until a later date. However the situation is still relatively fluid depending on the decisions made at each review interval, the first one being due at the Easter Weekend, April 10th.

We would advise you keep updated on this situation via the duo’s social media, Phoenix da Icefire on Twitter & Instagram, Husky Brown on Twitter & Instagram

New Dawn Records hope all our friends worldwide are safe and well at this time. As frustrating as the current situation will be for many, these are unique circumstances not witnessed since 1945. If everyone follows the basic principle of social distancing, the early indications at least suggest a direction of traffic leading to this being over sooner rather than later. Take care.

We are delighted to announce the release of this new EP today by New Jersey rapper Tru Trilla.

“The Seymour Chronicles” is entirely produced by another Newark native Joey Loax and features Tru’s fellow 050 Boyz members Prince Ak and RIQ together with long time affiliate Fly Kwa.

The EP is the prequel to Tru’s bangin’ new album “God of Barz” out on May 29th which includes production by local luminary Clinton Place, Chicago’s DNA Beatz, Barcelona’s Sumerio Square and Chat One from the UK. Rammed full of killer joints, it’s one to mark in the diary for all hip hop connoisseurs. More news on that to be announced shortly.

New single released today, the second taken from Newark rapper Tru Trilla’s “The Seymour Chronicles EP” out on March 17th.

On “20 to Life” he is joined by fellow 050 Boyz member Prince Ak as they load up the verbal barrels and take aim at wack rappers with more dresses in their locker than rhymes ! Fierce bars over the classic eastcoast sound produced by another New Jersey native Joey Loax.

The EP is the warm up to Tru’s incredible new album “God of Barz” we release in May, more news about that shortly.

Distributed by Ingrooves / Universal, the single is available to stream and download from all major platforms and stores worldwide including APPLE, AMAZON, DEEZER, & NAPSTER. Also on Spotify & Soundcloud
