To mark what has felt an incredibly quick, but also a busy and fulfilling first year back since re-launching, we got DJ Santoi to put together a special “Re:Generation” mix of singles and tracks we have released in the past 12 months
Included in the set are Underground Cartel, Tru Trilla, Belles in Monica, Az Izz, Phoenix da Icefire & Husky Brown and Krash Slaughta, artists from the USA, UK and Europe. Cool blend of hip hop beats, dope rhymes and turntablism….a little somethin’ to beat the lockdown blues.
The full track versions can be heard on the corresponding Spotify Playlist we set up here, but meantime give it a spin on Mixcloud…enjoy!
We are extremely proud to announce the release today of the phenomenal new album “Panacea” by London’s rapper & producer duo Phoenix da Icefire and Husky Brown.
A truly astounding and ground breaking piece of work which breaks from formulaic convention, Husky’s fresh and dynamic fusion of hip hop, electronica, dub, bass, r&b and soul provides the soundtrack for a narrative addressing many of today’s most pressing issues.
Triple Darkness member Phoenix has long been regarded as one of the finest lyricists to emerge from the UK, and throughout the album he sets his existential sights on the environment, mental health, knife crime, racism, well being and inner city life, all delivered with his trademark dexterous rhymes and creative wordplay.
Facing the challenges head on, the engaging commentary still retains a message of hope at its core, related through metaphorical concepts as abstract as they are grounded in reality.
A multidimensional, unique, entertaining and highly relevant album which pushes boundaries for the genre and will stand the test of time for years to come. Literally exceptional.
Distributed by Ingrooves / Universal, available to download and stream from Apple, Amazon and TidalAlso available to stream on Spotify & Soundcloud

In “The Humans are Coming” he skillfully tackles climate change and wider environmental concerns, while “Travelling Buddy” is a poignant offer of support, empathy and hope to all those experiencing mental health difficulties.A remix is also provided courtesy of renowned UK producer Chemo aka Telemachus

A busy March concludes for us with the release of the new single “Word of God” by New Jersey rapper Tru Trilla, produced by Chicago’s DNA Beatz.
This is the first to be taken from the album “God of Barz” out on May 29th which of course follows hot on the heels of Tru’s “The Seymour Chronicles EP” which we released only a couple of weeks ago on March 17th.
The album also includes production by Clinton Place aka Jamal Nueve, a New Jersey native now resident in Los Angeles, Barcelona’s Sumerio Square and the UK’s Chat One. Fellow 050 Boyz group member Prince Ak is included in the Brick City contingent of featured artists alongside Middy Murdock, Fly Kwa and Confucious.
In line with the album, the new single is raw and uncompromising, packed with intense energy as Tru aims the gloves at state sponsored oppression and delivers multiple knock out blows

Delighted to announce the release of the new single today by London duo Phoenix da Icefire & Husky Brown, the double A side “Dark Rainbow Light” b/w “Sins of Gaia”
Taken from the album “Panacea” out May 5th where the themes covered by The Triple Darkness member address the environment, mental health, knife crime, racism, well being and aspiration. The narrative is delivered with the highest caliber of lyricism and figurative wordplay over a soundtrack provided by Husky which skillfully blends a fresh fusion of hip hop, soul, r&b, electronica, dub and bass.
Following on from their first single “Cosmic Soul” b/w “Seasons of You” released earlier this month, Husky laces “Dark Rainbow Light” with some soulful traditional hip hop flavours as Phoenix reflects on the challenges of inner city life while searching a better path. Meanwhile, the lo fi beats of Sins of Gaia paints the backdrop for an attack on institutional racism with the remix provided by Kashmere (YNR Productions, Tru Thoughts, High Focus).
Distributed by Ingrooves / Universal, and available to stream and download from all major digital platforms and stores including Apple, Amazon, Deezer, Napster & Tidal. Also on Spotify and Soundcloud
Phoenix and Husky planned their album launch party at Brixton Jamm on May 8th. Obviously given the current situation worldwide with the COVID-19 outbreak and resulting interim restrictions implemented, the event may well have to be postponed until a later date. However the situation is still relatively fluid depending on the decisions made at each review interval, the first one being due at the Easter Weekend, April 10th.
New Dawn Records hope all our friends worldwide are safe and well at this time. As frustrating as the current situation will be for many, these are unique circumstances not witnessed since 1945. If everyone follows the basic principle of social distancing, the early indications at least suggest a direction of traffic leading to this being over sooner rather than later. Take care.
New Dawn Records are very pleased to announce that we will be releasing the new album “Dopeliss” by rapper and producer Az Izz from the legendary New Jersey crew The Outsidaz on July 3rd 2020.
The group were particularly well known for collaborative work with The Fugees, Wu Tang and a new upcoming crew from Detroit, D12, a fact acknowledged by Eminem several times throughout his “Slim Shady” LP.
Members including Rah Digga and Pace Won went on to pursue solo careers, while Az Izz formed his own development imprint for young artists and producing soundtracks for various tv, film and sports networks. He returned to the hip hop fold 2012 with the release of his solo album “Born in Sin, Shaped in Iniquity” followed in 2018 by “Sir Aubrey King”, and most recently appeared on Shade 45 last year as a guest of DJ Eclipse.
Largely self produced with additional contributions by Qua Z Mo, 3rdRell and DJ Profluent, “Dopeliss” represents the evolving sound of the east coast, mixing the traditional with the contemporary knitted together like the fabric of hip hop itself. Featured artists include fellow Outsidaz D.U. and Pace Won with New Jersey further represented by Drift, Rube the Difference, Jaja Kenyatta and more.
As a label we are always delighted to be working with artists of the highest caliber, and in this case with a history not dissimilar to our own. There is a further coincidence given our in house promotional division UrbanElite PR have previously worked with Rah Digga andD12.
Singles “Gettin’ It”, “Nunya” and “Ghetto” b/w “Crazy” will be released over April, May and June. We have just published the audio teaser and video trailer for the album on Soundcloud and Youtube
New Dawn Records are very pleased to announce that we will be releasing the new album “God of Barz” by New Jersey rapper Tru Trilla on May 29th 2020.
This of course is the follow up to “The Seymour Chronicles EP” which dropped only last week, and is available from all major online streaming platforms and digital stores. Distributed by Ingrooves / Universal.

Again, we thank all the public and media who have supported us since our re-launch just over a year ago.
We also understand these have been testing times for all our friends around the world, with the COVID-19 outbreak disrupting life and plans. Stay calm, stay focused, adapt and apply common sense to your circumstances. You already know what to do. In the short term this will be frustrating but it will be over in the fullness of time. Continue to live your lives & our best wishes to all of you and yours.
We are delighted to announce the release of this new EP today by New Jersey rapper Tru Trilla.
“The Seymour Chronicles” is entirely produced by another Newark native Joey Loax and features Tru’s fellow 050 Boyz members Prince Ak and RIQ together with long time affiliate Fly Kwa.
Singles “Warzone” and “20 to Life” have enjoyed heavy airplay rotation worldwide over the past month, a reflection of the hard bars and quality rhymes all four lyrical marksmen deliver over classic east coast gritty productions.
The EP is the prequel to Tru’s bangin’ new album “God of Barz” out on May 29th which includes production by local luminary Clinton Place, Chicago’s DNA Beatz, Barcelona’s Sumerio Square and Chat One from the UK. Rammed full of killer joints, it’s one to mark in the diary for all hip hop connoisseurs.More news on that to be announced shortly.
